Arizona Governor signs bill to allow felons to have ccw permit

Arizona Governor signs bill to allow felons to have ccw permit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, Arizona Governor Napolitano signed a bill that would allow persons with felony convictions whose rights have been restored to obtain a ccw permit. It would also apply to persons whose convictions have been vacated, set aside or expunged. Arizona will also now recognize ccw permits from felons in other states.

Good for him :D...I hope this will spread nation wide. To many people are "felons" now, Im not sure what the statistics are (1:7?),but when your obligation is done your rights should be restored.

Good, this is the way it should be. In my eyes youre only a felon until you've paid for your crime. Once that's done your just like anyone else. And there are WAY WAY WAY to many "Felony" type laws. Smoking pot should NOT be unlawful. Sex between a 17 year old and an 18 year old should not be illegal. Bearing arms against the out of control US government should not be an act of terror. Lying to the .gov should not be a felony, and many more!

How could state laws over ride federal, So they give you a license to carry, Felons still can't own anything other than black powder. This is however the first step to upgrading these American Citizens out of second class. Next these citizens will be allowed to vote, something even women, blacks & soon illegal aliens get to do.

They are systematically criminalizing NORMAL behavior.

If your rights are restored, isn't that the same as never being a felon at all (at least as far as forms 4 and 4473 are concerned)?

Maybe to the state that restored them, but not where the feds are concerned. ( my understanding )

I am in favor of this. Once their debt to society has been paid, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't have the full rights of any other citizen of their state.

Yup, makes it easier for the Feds to track and monitor who is carrying concealed.

Just one more step towards the eradication of Constitutional rights...

well i agree but, what if they have multiple accounts as felons with firearms, lets say they robbed a bank, a few times, convicted on each account. Should they be able to then?

What if they have killed a few people and got let go on a tech, should they be able to then?

I think repeat offenders shouldn't be able to.

But if it's a felony...like a friend of mine, her ex was dealing large amounts of drugs...they raided the house while she was home and he wasn't. She was clean, kind of knew what he was upto, but she went down for it and is considered a felon. That's wrong....

And women who have killed their ex's that deserved, I think that is wrong too!

There is no HIM. Janet Napolitburo is a socialist dimocrap which makes this all that much weirder. Gotta be something else here.

She's just prepping for her Senate run. Full amnesty is coming Jan 15th too.

We're trying to recall our dumb ass mayor too.
The problem is in the last Mayoral race the only candidtaes were 'Skippy' , a poodle, and a German Sheppard.

The poodle almost took it.

If they are that dangerous then they should be in prison serving the maximum rather than getting out for "good behavior" (whatever the hell that is). If the authorities believe that they paid their debt to society by the amount of "time out" they had, then they should be reintigrated as full citizens with full rights. Otherwise they shouldn't be letting them out of prisons with minimal sentences.

I was thinking about that, but really most men should have left the relationships...but I suppose there are some like the stories I've heard and read about women doing what the men have don...I just thinks it's rare....

But really what I should have wrote with the first post is, violent crimes should be viewed...I think TN andy put it best, pot smokers and sellers should not be a felony!

Re: Arizona Governor signs bill to allow felons to have ccw permit

The Governor is no friend to gun owners, she vetoed the bill that would let you carry in restaurants that have liquor licenses, as well as several other pro gun bills this session.

This bill allows one who has had his rights restored apply for a CCW. Heck, I know people who have an FFL, but can't get a CCW because of something stupid they did 20 years ago. She only signed it because it passed with a veto proof majority.

The one thing Janet does NOT like is looking weak and having the legislature over ride her.

Damn, I guess I need one more six shooter for my family then, good thing there is a gun show this weekend. ;-) Hope the 5 shooters and self-loaders will hold me over till then.

I am thinking that even if we restore non-firearms-related-offender felons that it would be a great step in the right direction...
